"After seeing the beautiful photos of my brothers wedding from Benjamin and Elise, we knew we had to have them - even though it meant cancelling with another photographer and loosing a non-refundable deposit.

We met with Ben and Elise twice before the wedding, and found them to be very organised. They were relaxed and easy to speak to, while still being knowledgeable and passionate about their craft.

B+E did a location scouting before the day of the wedding, and visited the venue where we held our ceremony/reception. This was great as they already knew where the best light was, and where the best places were for portraits etc.

On the day, B+E arrived on time. They were very calm and collected as always. We had a plan of how the day would go, which ended up going out the window, but B+E just rolled with it. It was a super hot day and we were thankful that they had scouted some amazing locations that were also shady. They made my husband, wedding party and I all feel very at ease. It was clear how passionate they were about their work throughout the day.

As for the final result…We have a CD of around 400 high res photographs and we are in love with every single image!! Everyone comments on how B+E managed the capture the essence of the day. I am having trouble picking which ones to print as they are all so beautiful!! We would recommend B+E without hesitation to future brides and grooms."

"Having our Big Day on our 11th anniversary, we were excited – but there were some nerves… Elise and Ben were so positive, encouraging and adorable – we had so much fun watching them have fun taking our photos, that we forgot about our nerves! Our Big Day was the day after the huge freak storm that blew over the country. The weather was cold and very windy – and we’re in Wellington, so VERY windy! This was a real challenge, and was a test of suitable wet weather location knowledge. We all embraced the crazy weather as much as practically possible, got some really fun moments, as well as stunning portraits. One of the favourites is the moment where my umbrella was suddenly caught by the wind and turned inside out – a super classic Wellington wedding!

"We had Benjamin and Elise recommended to us by my sister-in law. As soon as we started looking online at their work my husband and I knew they were the ones for us. What we both loved is that they were not the standard - “stand there and we’ll snap pics” types. We LOVED the way they factored in the background and lighting and really thought about how they would do the shot. We met Benjamin and Elise a few months before the wedding and did an engagement shoot. It was a really fun morning and we got so many gorgeous photos. They we were relaxed and easy to work with, while also giving us prompts and directions when needed.

Ben and Elise came up to New Plymouth a couple of days before the wedding and found some stunning gardens to use. They were also happy to do some at a location we requested. On the day they were great to work with. I was running much later than planned so they took the initiative to take photo’s of the reception set up. At the church they managed to be in all the right places without being intrusive. Guests commented that they appreciated being able to enjoy the ceremony without having to peer around the photographers backs! 

We are delighted with the 300 plus photo’s on disc we received. They are so stunning and we love the way they thought about everything. Members of the bridal party commented that they really liked the way each shot was planned out and that Ben and Elise thought about everything from harsh sunlight to sheep droppings and made sure these were avoided! We liked the way they did posed shots as well as the way they acted on opportunity and took a photo. We have some great candid ones of the guests and bridal party laughing and smiling.

"Ben and Elise photographed our wedding weekend on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2011. We found them to be fantastic to work with - really relaxed, flexible and easy to get along with. We omitted several traditional elements of a normal wedding day, but Ben and Elise were happy to work in with whatever we wanted to do. We met with them twice before the wedding, and they were both really excited to work with us, which made us even more excited about our wedding day. 

We opted to have a two hour portrait session before our ceremony, and Ben and Elise had great ideas about locations and poses. We were a bit nervous about being in front of the camera for such a long time, but they were both really encouraging and put us at ease. They also encouraged us to just be ourselves and hang out in front of the camera, and they got some really great shots from those times, as well as the more posed shots.

During our ceremony and reception, both Ben and Elise were shooting. They were really thorough in making sure they got good shots, and they captured all of the details and special moments beautifully. We absolutely loved working with them - they are both really lovely people, and many of our guests commented on that fact. We ended up with several hundred beautifully edited photos in digital format, ready for us to print off and put into albums as we wish. We feel so lucky to have been able to have Ben and Elise photograph our wedding, and would absolutely recommend them to anyone."

"It was a real pleasure to have Benjamin and Elise to do our wedding photography. Before the big day, we all got together to discuss the detail of what we wanted. By the time the meeting was over, we were more than happy to leave the details up to them.

Prior to the ceremony Benjamin and Elise "followed" us to the hairdresser, the make up artist and at home firstly with the groom and best man, followed by a visit to the Maid of Honour's home where she and the Bride were. They depicted the different stages of getting ready in a relaxed manner. During and after the ceremony Benjamin and Elise quietly took photos of the wedding party and guests. They rounded people up as they were preparing to leave the afternoon tea to have photos with the wedding party. Our favourite photo is one that they shot in the entrance of the church - the bride & groom were surrounded by bubbles with HUGE smiles on their faces.

As the day was wildly wet, they escorted the wedding party to the covered terraces at Parliament where they proceeded to shoot some more amazing photos. Then onto the reception where there were pictures that captured the joyous occasion and ensured that all our guests - both family and friends - were included.

Finally, the delivery of the photos. Benjamin and Elise presented us with a natural cardboard CD case bound in twine with 250+ photos that they had carefully edited to ensure we had nothing but the best. This way we can print off what photos we want, put all the photos into our digital photo-frame and give copies to all our friends and family as a keepsake of a truly memorable day.

Eight months prior to our wedding, Benjamin and Elise had also done a very casual engagement session with us in the Botanic Gardens. This is what prompted us to employ them as our wedding photographers. We would recommend Benjamin and Elise Photography for any occasion. They really are a delight to work with."

I stumbled on their blog and was immediately taken by their gorgeous style. I am an Art Director and so I wanted something more than what I was seeing ‘wedding photographers’ shoot. I was after a relaxed and real reflection of who we were as a couple and the fun, colourful and whimsical day we wanted. "I’m not even sure how I ended up on Benjamin and Elise’s blog but not long after I arrived I was completely in love with their photography style.

We were based in Auckland but were visiting Wellington for a week and so I had my fingers crossed they would have time to take some photos of me and my boyfriend Ivan and our baby girl. They were so pleasant via email and agreed to scout some locations prior to our shoot.

The conditions on the day were unfortunately extremely difficult…(extra crazy wellington wind, quite cold, and they had a car but we had no car seat for baby, so we were confined to our initial location). Nonetheless, Ivan and I were completely at ease with Benjamin and Elise. They were confident and professional but sweet and friendly all at the same time. Any nerves or concerns we had were completely dissipated once they started shooting away.

They completely made the most of the situation and produced some gorgeous shots (with a very quick turnaround time!) that we will cherish forever.

It wasn’t ACTUALLY an engagement shoot, but that night Ivan proposed to me in our little rental cottage by the sea. So those photos will always be remembered as our engagement photos on a windy day in beautiful Wellington.
